Gantt Chart

The Gantt chart is a convenient tool for managing tasks within projects. You can find it in the corresponding project tab.

Benefits of Using a Gantt Chart

With the Gantt chart, you can:

  • Easily adjust task deadlines visually.

  • Link tasks with dependencies.

Creating and Editing Tasks

To create a new task:

  1. Click the "+" button next to the project stage.

  2. A task creation panel will open, allowing you to enter the task name and assign it to a team member.

To edit an existing task:

  • Double-click the task row to open it for editing.

Task Status on the Chart:

  • Completed tasks: Marked in gray.

  • Active tasks: Marked in blue.

Adjusting Task Deadlines

To modify task deadlines:

  • Use the "boundary extension markers" (vertical dots) to adjust the task duration by dragging them.

  • To reschedule a task without changing its duration, drag the task itself to the desired date using the drag-and-drop method.

Linking Tasks

A single task can lead to multiple dependent tasks. You can now create multiple dependencies from a single task. These task dependencies will show on the task card.

To link tasks:

  • Hover over the endpoint ("circle") of the first task.
  • Click and hold the left mouse button, then drag a dashed line to the starting point of the dependent task.
  • Note: Task dependencies do not automatically shift task schedules. Linking tasks will not change the start time of any task.

Blocking Task Dependencies

A "blocking dependency" can be established where one task must be completed before another dependent task can be moved to "Done".

  • To create a blocking dependency, single-click on the existing dependency line on the Gantt diagram and select "Blocking Dependency".
  • The dependent task will show a lock icon.

  • When a task is blocked by a dependency, it cannot be moved to the "Done" status.
  • A blocking dependency can be removed by clicking on the dependency again, or within the dependency section of the task detail card.
  • Changes to dependencies are reflected in both the Gantt chart and task cards.

To remove a link:

  • Click the dependency arrow and select "Remove Dependency".

Auto Scheduling

Auto Scheduling can be enabled or disabled: Project → Gantt → Gear icon → Automation.

With Auto Scheduling disabled, dependencies do not affect task schedules. You can move tasks without affecting the schedules of related tasks.

With Auto Scheduling enabled:

  • When you create a dependency between tasks, the dependent task's timeline adjusts automatically to match the predecessor’s schedule.
  • You can add a delay (lag) or overlap (lead) between linked tasks by clicking on the dependency link and specifying the delay in hours or days; the dependent task will adjust accordingly, and the lag will be displayed as a blue link line on the Gantt chart.
  • When you move a predecessor task, the linked task’s start date will automatically adjust.
  • Once tasks are linked with auto-scheduling, you cannot manually change the start date of the dependent task.

Gantt Chart Views

Above the diagram are icons for changing its appearance:

  1. Scale Buttons: Use the zoom in and zoom out buttons to change the chart's scale.
  2. Hide Grid: Hiding the table will expand the diagram's space, allowing for more information to be visible.
  3. Grouping: The Gantt chart can be structured by stages or by assignee. Choose the grouping method by clicking the grouping button.
  4. Gantt Settings: Click the gear icon to open a menu where you can choose which fields to display on the diagram.
