Filters

Filters are amazing for quickly finding information you want based on specific criteria. In Flowlu, you can pre-define sets of filters. For example, you can create filters to view customers from a particular industry, or find projects of a certain project manager, etc.

Every list (table) has a filter panel at the top:

The panel consists of a filter builder  and pinned filter fields, as well as a button to quickly add fields to the panel — + Add field.

Filter Builder

Here you can select user-created and saved filters. If you click this button, it reveals a menu that lists all the filter sets saved by the user.

The menu also contains options for creating a new filter and resetting the current active filter.

How to Create a New Filter

To create a new filter, click the New Filter button at the bottom left corner.

Some default fields will be displayed in the opened window.

When creating a filter, you are able to do the following:

  • Change the field and its name;
  • Delete the field from the set of filters;
  • Pin the field to the filter panel for quick access;
  • Add a new field from the available ones for this filter;
  • Save a filter, if you're planning to use it often. If it is checked, you can specify the name of a filter, for example, John Smith’s tasks that expired a week ago.

How to Use Fields in a Filter

The more fields there are in the filter set, the more accurate the query and the data selection will be. The behavior of the filter is as follows — for example, we have made the following query:

Which can be interpreted as follows:

Title contains: Health

and

Site contains: example.com

and

Owner: Barbara Bates or Julie Edwards or Nick Jackson

and

Business Type: Prospect or Customer

Therefore, the data in the fields where several options are selected will be taken into account with the OR operator, and the search by fields is built using the AND operator.

How to Operate Dates

In Flowlu, you can filter not only by absolute date (e.g. to show projects with the deadline of April 1, 2019) but also by relative dates, that is, by dates that are calculated relative to today's date. Flowlu offers presets of the most common requests by relative dates:

  • Yesterday.
  • Today.
  • Tomorrow.
  • This Week.
  • Previous Month.
  • Current Month.
  • Next Month.
  • Current Quarter.
  • etc.

If the presets are not enough for your needs, you can select a custom Period of X days.

The example shown in the above picture means the following: to show items with a date that is no earlier than 30 days in the past and no later than 30 days in the future. When the current date changes, the sampling results will change accordingly. If you want to sample by date, with no date limitation in the past, then leave the Last X days field blank, and accordingly, without limitation in the future, leave the Next X days field blank.

For example, show projects with a start date no later than 3 days ago:

For example, show projects that start at least 3 days after today:

How to Pin Fields to the Filter Panel

If you often use filtering by a field, you can pin it to the filter panel for quick access. To do this, click the pin icon to the right of the field.

Save the set of filters and filter the data easily.

For example, we'll put the Owner and Business Type fields in the list of organizations and name a set of filters: Darth's Customers.

Please note that you can create filter sets and pin both filled and empty fields to be filtered manually.

So, the filter set is created, the fields are fixed, and the result will be as follows:

Flowlu's found two entries that match all search criteria.

To modify a request without opening a set of filters, simply click the necessary field and change the set of options:

If you want to clear the value of the filtered field, simply click the cross to the right.

A second press on the cross removes the field from the filter panel. You can return it either through the settings of the filter set or through the button on the +Add Field panel.

If you have changed the set of filters or the values of the filtered fields, the system will offer you to save the changes in the set.

You can save a filter as new or by overwriting an existing one.
